Simon & Garfunkel Live in Chicago

It really is important to ap-
preciate just what it is to
be a drummer and a part of
a musical vision, which is
not yours but that you are
asked to be a part of.

Tonight, Jim Keltner again de-
monstrated exactly that. He
captured the essence of what
it was - the iconic impact
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel,
for those who remember what
it actually was like or who own
the original S&G recordings.

Classic song after song and
played with perfect integrity,
as you'd expect from Keltner.
He played SOLID as a rock.

"(He) is a rock. (He) is an island."

At the midpoint of the show,
Simon and Garfunkel surprised
the audience with their then
idols - the Everly Brothers!
They played a couple of their
classic tunes, which were the
original inspiration for S&G's
now familiar two-part harmony.

The show was marvelous, feat-
uring a rare performance of
the strange electronic in-
strument, the Theremin.

Again, it's about the music
and Keltner always proves that!
Thank you, Jim for a wonder-
ful performance in support of
one of the greatest duos in
the history of pop music!

Keltner is classic, as is
Simon and Garfunkel.

I'm a big fan of S&G since WAY back [when i was a kid of about 10 or so] - & Gadd, Tate, & any drummer they or PSimon alone has had AW, etc, FTM...my tastes are broad & varied; it's not just blistering fusion/jazz ALL the time, ya know [img]wink.gif[/img] ...
I've never had the opp to see Kelt live...big fan of his since the Dan days [AWA any drummer THEY'VE ever had [img]wink.gif[/img] ...this'll be my chance....
